A Sin Is A Sin

A Sin Is A Sin

How can a telling lie be just as bad as committing murder? The answer is simple. God said do not do it, and He meant do not do it. A sin is a sin. God Himself wrote the Ten Commandments, in stone. Exodus 31:18 "And He gave unto Moses, when He had made an end to communicating with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God."
God did not just say the sins listed in the Ten Commandments are wrong, He wrote them in stone!
You may be thinking that lying can not possibly be as bad as murder. Or that lustful daydreaming is not as bad as actually committing fornication.
James 2 verse 10 says, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." Notice how it says "all"? Sins are committed by actions, speaking, and thinking. Are you careful what you do, what you say, what you think?
Lets look at two things. First, we are a soft generation. By that I mean that murder to us is horrific. Nobody wants to see anybody get killed. But a few thousand years ago watching someone be crucified, or burned alive, or stoned to death was a spectator event, done in public. And, not only watched by men, but women & children were there also.
And can you imagine slicing a lambs throat? Or any other animal? Before Jesus died on the cross for our sins people had to sacrifice animals, to shed blood, to have their sins forgiven. We can not fathom that idea today. Thankfully, God sent His Son Jesus, the Lamb, to die for our sins and all we have to do is ask for forgiveness and if we are true Christians who follow God's word, He hears our prayers and forgives us.
And second, thinking about committing fornication is just as bad as doing it because Jesus said so. He did not change the Ten Commandments, but he elaborated on them in Matthew chapter 5. Examples are verses 27 and 28 "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." That is not hard to understand.
Please read your Bible. Do not go by what I or anyone else says. Learn the truth in your own way, how you perceive it. But I guarantee you that you will see it the way I do because it is plain & clearly written.
Once again, thank you for visiting and please come back soon. :)
